Dear Duke City Parents and Athletes:

Recently the Coaches had a meeting and WOW!!! what a great time we had!  Below are a few changes and updates we have made to our staff, office and procedures!!

First, we want to tell you about a meeting  for Sandia Dear Duke City Parents and Athletes:  February 15th @ 5:15p.m. @ SHS Pool to discuss our new-found enthusiasm and excitement!! Please come to this meeting. We won't keep you long!

Our Spring/Summer has been scheduled and the activities are VERY exciting including “Color Wars” (a team-building, week-long bunch of FUN!)  Team trip to Colorado (June 6-11ish) Roller skating, foothill hikes, sleep-overs, movie nights (in the pool), camping trip and other team building activities.  We are excited and energized to begin our revitalized program.

Please notice that our filing cabinet is OUTSIDE of the office.  Each athlete has an individual file that will contain personal information for individual athletes, meet results, assorted qualifying times.  There are folders for the coaches where you can leave your thoughts or comments.  There are files containing meet information, meet schedules, summer activity schedules, assorted USA Swimming Time Standards and other helpful information. 

There is a copier in the office so that you can make copies of any of this information if you wish.  We want to help you guys stay up-to-date and informed about Qualifying times and your personal progress.  We have 2 weeks of Goal Setting session scheduled and we plan to continue to do personal follow-ups with each athlete.  Goals are critical to your success and we feel we must pursue this area more diligently with you all (our athletes).


We will produce a monthly newsletter outlining upcoming events and important dates.  We will also include an article from each coach.  Our bulletin board will have a new look to help keep information up-to-date!

Age Group Coach:  Erin Godby (10/5/85), UNM Graduate, Elementary School        Teacher swam with Duke City and Lobo Aquatics and 4 year letterman @        LaCueva HS, Jr. National Backstroke Qualifier


Age Group Coach:  Sean Sacoman (2/18/90), UNM Student (preparing for        Meterology School) swam with Duke City since 1998, 4 year letterman @        Sandia High School


Age Group Coach:  Bridget O’Hara (1988), UNM Student (preparing to attend Boston        College to pursue Masters in Education).  Swam with Los Alamos Aquatomics         and UNM women’s Team.  4 year letterman for LosAlamos Hilltoppers


Age Group Coach: Jon Orner (1987), UNM Student (preparing for medical school) swam for Duke City and 4 year letterman for Sandia High School


Age Group Coach:  Jess Lucero (1987), UNM Student (preparing for Nursing School, reg. EMT) Wrestled for Sandia High School.  Has taught swimming for 6 years w/ Duke City Aquatics


Age Group Coach:  Ryan Petropolis (1987), UNM Student (preparing for life!), Swam for Sandia         High School, 3 year letterman.
